6-Day Western Cape & Karoo Highlights Tour

This six-day itinerary delivers the greatest hits of the Western Cape and Karoo in a compact, immersive package. Discover Table Mountain, the Cape’s First People heritage, food and wine traditions, and the expanse of the Little Karoo. Each day is filled with a mix of city exploration, vineyard visits, nature visits, and wildlife encounters.

You’ll travel from Cape Town through Franschhoek and Oudtshoorn to the southern coast, with game drives, stargazing, and beach relaxation built in.

Accommodation is chosen for comfort and location, and all meals are included. This tour suits travellers with limited time who want a high-impact South African experience with expert guides and seamless logistics.

This tour has been designed so that nearly everything is taken care of for you from beginning to end. We include your accommodation, meals, and all planned activities, allowing you to simply enjoy the journey. The only items not covered are beverages and any personal purchases you may wish to make. This balance keeps things simple while still giving you a little flexibility along the way.

Day 1

Cape Town

Take the cable car up Table Mountain for panoramic views, then enjoy a guided walk through the historic Cape Malay quarter (weather permitting). Savour a traditional dinner and connect with your guide over a short “long table talk” on South African geology.

Day 2

The West Coast and First Peoples

Travel up the scenic West Coast to !Khwa ttu, home of the San Heritage Centre. Learn first-hand about the world’s oldest cultures, join a food experience rooted in the “First Peoples’” traditions, and walk the land with San guides.

Day 3

Winelands & Art Deco Heritage

Head to Franschhoek for a unique wine train experience through the Cape’s top estates. Discover the history and flavours of the Winelands, then overnight at a classic Art Deco hotel in Montagu after a scenic drive along Route 62.

Day 4

Into the Little Karoo

Cross into the arid, beautiful Karoo. Tour a working ostrich farm and get hands-on with giants of the bird world. Visit the Cango Caves, and round out the day with stargazing and a traditional “boerebraai” (farmer’s braai) with storytelling under the stars.

Day 5

Game Drive & Coast

Start early for an open-vehicle safari at Botlierskop, spotting lion, rhino, buffalo, and elephant. Have a leisurely break in coastal Arniston—with time for a beach walk—before a relaxed dinner and overnight stay by the sea.

Day 6

Penguins, Whales & The Southern Point

Travel via Cape Agulhas—the southernmost point of Africa—and the charming coastal town of Hermanus for a spot of whale watching (in season). View a thriving African penguin colony at Betty’s Bay en route back to Cape Town for a farewell dinner.
